The challenge

The NIH Clinical Center’s Department of Transfusion Medicine needed to relocate critical clinical operations into newly renovated E-Wing facilities in Building 10, while simultaneously managing the renewal of its American Red Cross contract for donor recruitment and blood collection.

Both efforts carried high operational risk. Any disruption could affect blood component therapy, cellular therapy and specialized diagnostics that support patient care and research at the world’s largest hospital dedicated solely to clinical research. DTM required experienced project management, organizational change management and operational transition support to keep services stable for more than 500 staff and patients.
